However, it isn’t as simple as people make it sound. Much of attraction is based on previous experience, you are not working with a blank slate. If you already know that somebody’s personal aroma will attract you, then your mind goes on automatic. It’s a very complex topic. But to make a long story short, if you are not attracted to a person, you should not be forced to spend your life with them.

But basically, yes. Consider breasts for example. Anything above an A or maybe a B cup is actually detrimental to survival. But it’s a signal to males that a woman is fertile, and is certainly getting enough to eat, so over time it becomes exaggerated. Variation in features (particularly caucasian ones like hair and eye colour) really doesn’t have much reason to exist beyond the fact that a blond woman in a country of brunettes is probably going to get more attention.

We don’t really have to struggle to survive, so we’ve become a bit like peacocks I guess.
